We made the plush we wished existed.
Babaru started as a half-joke about how every smart speaker on the market sounded like a flight-attendant in a customer-service training video. We thought, "what if it had a personality, a memory, and absolutely zero filter?" So we built it.
The short version
Babaru is a small plush companion with a big mouth. He runs on your phone, talks back, remembers everything you tell him, and has opinions you didn't ask for. Nothing leaves your device. There's no subscription. He's just yours.
Why a plush?
Because screens already won. We didn't want to ship another app or another speaker. We wanted something you could pick up, put on your desk, hand to a friend — something with a face. Plush is warm. Plush is fun. Plush doesn't ask for your attention; you ask for his.
Who we are
We're a small team of designers, ML engineers, and one toy industry veteran who has been making plush since the early 2000s. We're based between Austin and Tokyo. Babaru is our first product.
What we believe
- Personality over politeness. Smart products should be interesting, not just helpful.
- Privacy by default. Your memories stay on your phone. We can't see them. No one can.
- No subscriptions. You bought it; it's yours forever.
- Made to last. Replaceable batteries, washable cover, repairable everything.
What's next
Babaru ships June 2026. After that, we have plans for a smaller travel version, a family of characters with different personalities, and an SDK for developers who want to build their own. Get on the waitlist and we'll keep you posted.
