Plush on the outside. Surprisingly smart on the inside.
Babaru is the rare smart device that gets more useful the more you use it — and never sends a byte of your conversation anywhere.
The three-second version
You squeeze his paw. You talk. He talks back. He remembers. The next time, he picks up where you left off.
The longer version
1. Setup (90 seconds)
Charge him, install the Babaru app on your phone, tap "Pair," and squeeze his left paw. The app finds him over Bluetooth, you give him a name, and you're done. No account. No cloud sign-in. No "agree to 47 terms."
2. Conversation
To talk to Babaru, just talk. He's always listening for speech directed at him (no wake word, no "Hey Babaru"). When you speak, his microphone captures audio and streams it over Bluetooth to your phone. The Babaru app runs a compact, on-device language model that figures out what you said and what he should say back. His voice is synthesized on your phone and streamed to his speaker.
The whole round-trip happens in about a second. Nothing leaves your phone.
3. Memory
This is the part that makes Babaru different from every other talking toy. After every conversation, the app extracts key things you mentioned — people, plans, opinions, recurring topics — and writes them to an encrypted memory store on your phone. Next time you chat, he references that memory naturally.
You told him you were nervous about a job interview on Thursday? On Friday he'll ask how it went. You complained about your roommate's cooking? He hasn't forgotten. You can view, edit, or delete any memory in the app at any time.
4. Personality
Babaru has a default voice — witty, opinionated, brutally honest, occasionally kind. You can adjust how snarky he gets, how often he initiates conversation, and the topics he leans into. Out of the box, he's somewhere between "your funniest friend" and "the one who tells you when you have spinach in your teeth."
What about your data?
The short answer: we never see it. Babaru runs entirely on your phone. Memories are stored encrypted, on-device. No analytics, no telemetry, no "anonymous" data collection. The only network traffic is opt-in software updates.
If you delete the app, every memory is gone. If you sell or give Babaru to someone else, a 10-second factory reset clears the unit completely.
