1. Who we are

This policy applies to Babaru, Inc. ("Babaru," "we," "us"), a Delaware corporation. We make the Babaru AI plush companion and operate the website at babaru.co and the Babaru mobile app.

2. What we collect on this website

When you visit babaru.co:

• Your IP address, browser type, and pages visited (standard web logs, retained 30 days)
• Cookies for basic site function and analytics — see cookie policy

When you place a pre-order or join the waitlist:

• Your name, email, shipping address, and order details
• Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card number

3. What the Babaru device & app collect

The Babaru device: captures audio when you talk to it, and streams that audio to the paired phone. It does not store audio. It does not connect to the internet. It does not have an identifier we can correlate to you.

The Babaru app: stores your conversation transcripts, the memory entries Babaru creates, personality settings, and device pairing info only on your phone, encrypted with your device key. We cannot read this data; it never leaves your device.

The app contacts our servers only for: software updates (opt-in), order status (if you tap "View order"), and crash reports (opt-in, anonymized).

4. What we don't do

• We do not sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
• We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
• We do not run cross-site advertising.
• We do not require a Babaru account.

5. Why we collect what we collect

• To fulfill your order (shipping address, payment details).
• To contact you about your order (email).
• To make the site work (cookies, server logs).
• To respond to your support requests (any info you share with us).

6. Who we share data with

We share the minimum necessary data with:

• Stripe — payment processing
• Our shipping partners — to deliver your order
• Email tools (e.g. Postmark) — to send transactional emails
• Vercel — web hosting

We do not share data with advertising networks, data brokers, or social platforms.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of that data
• Object to processing or request restriction
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Email privacy@babaru.co to exercise any of these rights. We respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Babaru is suitable for ages 8+, but the app and website are not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under those ages. If you believe a child has given us their data, email us and we'll delete it.

9. Data retention

• Order data: 7 years (tax/accounting requirements)
• Support emails: 3 years
• Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe
• Server logs: 30 days

10. International transfers

We're a US company. If you're in the EU/UK, your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we'll email anyone with an active order or account and update the date at the top of this page.
